Auto Insurance Coverages Available
Bodily injury liability
Also known as “BI” protects you if you injure or kill someone while operating your car. It provides for a legal defense if another party in an accident files a lawsuit against you.
Bodily injury protects you against other people’s injuries not your car. Consider having the same level of coverage for all of your cars. Purchase enough insurance to protect you in case of a court judgment or lawsuit otherwise you become financially responsible for judgments in excess of your insurance limits.
Property damage liability
Also known as “PD” protects you if your car damages someone else’s property. Property can include another vehicle or any other item considered property.
Medical payments and personal injury protection
This pays for the medical expenses of the injured driver and passengers in your vehicle.
Uninsured motorists’ coverage
This pays for your injuries caused by an uninsured driver in a crash where it is not your fault. There is no guarantee that a driver who hits you has insurance to pay for your injuries. It is important to consider this coverage when choosing insurance.
Collision coverage
This
pays for damages to your vehicle when your car hits, or is hit by another vehicle or object. Some customers select higher deductibles to keep their insurance premiums low. Choose the deductible that is right for you and for your wallet.
Comprehensive physical damage coverage
This pays for losses resulting from incidents other than a collision. Example include flood, theft and fire claims.
Rental reimbursement
This pays for a rental when your car is unable to be driven as a result of a comprehensive or collision claim.
